Awards

  • KAIROS Service Award, 2009. This competitive national award was for ongoing—sustainable—dedication to supporting and investing in technological literacy as well as demonstrating a commitment to community-building and collaborative authorship.

  • Education Award, Marquette County Conservation District, 1995. This competitive prize was awarded for the best graphic design of educational materials for the district’s watershed preservation project.

Fellowships

  • HASTAC Scholar, 2009-2010. A fellowship awarded to support participation in the Humanities, Arts, Sciences, and Technology Advanced Collaboratory, including hosting discussions and writing blog posts regarding new media technologies and literacies.
  • Technology Fellowship, Department of English, UW-Madison, 2005-2006. This competitive award enabled me to do research on writing and new media and technology theory and pedagogy as well as serve as a technology consultant to the department.

Grants

  • Graduate Research Network Travel Grant, Computers and Writing, Purdue University, May, 2008. This award enabled me to travel and present at the 2008 Computers and Writing Conference.
  • DoIT Engage Adaptation Award, UW-Madison, Fall 2008-Spring 2009. (With Annette Vee and Scot Barnett) This competitive $1,200 award funded a collaborative writing project for one section of Intermediate Composition, including the establishment of the [www.writingtechnology.net Writing Technology Wiki].
  • Vilas Travel Grant Award, March 2009. This competitive award enabled me to travel and present at the 2009 Conference on College Composition and Communication.
  • Graduate Research Network Travel Grant, Computers and Writing, Athens, GA, May, 2008. This award enabled me to travel and present at the 2008 Computers and Writing Conference.
  • Vilas Travel Grant Award, March 2008. This competitive award enabled me to travel and present at the 2008 Conference on College Composition and Communication.
